The PRO Makeup Constitution
Preamble: The End of Gatekeeping
For decades, the global makeup and beauty industry has operated on a currency of opacity. Professional success was rarely a straight line; it was a maze of “who you know,” agency gatekeeping, subjective word-of-mouth, and fragmented reputation. If you weren't in the right union or the right city, your talent often went unnoticed.
PRO Makeup exists to dismantle this outdated hierarchy. We believe that professional ranking should be based on verified achievement, not favoritism. We believe that a makeup artist in Tokyo, a bridal specialist in Texas, and a prosthetic designer in London all deserve to be measured by the same objective standard.
To achieve this, we have built the Global Artistry Index (GAI)—a proprietary algorithmic framework that synthesizes millions of objective data points into a single, dynamic professional score.
This is our pledge to you: There is no human editor behind your ranking. There is no “curation team” deciding who is hot and who is not. There is only the code, your data, and your hard work.
A Living System (Beta Disclaimer)
PRO Makeup is currently in its infant stage. While our algorithms are advanced, they are not yet perfect. We view the GAI not as a static statue, but as a living organism that evolves based on your feedback.
If you spot a data error, or if you believe a specific certification deserves more weight, you are encouraged to report it. Your input is the most valuable signal we have to refine the fairness of this system. Send your feedback to [email protected].
Article I: The Non-Human Standard
Our ranking system operates on a strictly enforced “Zero-Interference” policy. The GAI is an automated engine that ingests, normalizes, and analyzes data from heterogeneous sources—ranging from the immutable truth of film databases to the chaotic volatility of social media streams.
1.1 Objective Synthesis
The central challenge of the GAI is reconciling “Data Veracity.” How do you compare an Oscar nomination (High Veracity) with a TikTok like count (Low Veracity)?
Our system utilizes a Weighted Confidence Model. Data points from verified government or industry databases (like State Boards or IMDb) are treated as “Immutable Anchors,” while social metrics are treated as “Fluid Signals” that must pass through quality filters before counting toward your score.
1.2 Dynamic Recalculation
The industry never sleeps, and neither does the GAI. We utilize event-driven architectures (polling APIs like the TMDB Changes endpoint) to detect updates in real-time.
- Did you just get credited on a new film?
- Did your license status just change to “Active”?
- Did you just win a major award?
The system detects these events and triggers a recalculation of your rank, ensuring your profile reflects your current reality, not last year's news.
Article II: The GAI Mathematical Framework
For those who want to understand the “engine under the hood,” this section details the specific logic we use.
Your Global Artistry Index () is a composite function of three primary vectors: Cinematic Authority, Digital Influence, and Professional Trust.
The high-level formula is:
Where and represent dynamic weighting coefficients that adjust based on your primary category (e.g., a “Film Artist” has a higher , while a “Beauty Influencer” has a higher ).
2.1 Cinematic & Commercial Authority ()
We validate your career “Hard Skills” by directly querying industry records via the AWS Data Exchange (IMDb) and The Movie Database (TMDB). Your score is not a simple count of jobs; it is a weighted sum of your role's complexity and the project's prestige.
- Department Head / Key Artist: Carries a weight of 1.0.
- Assistant / Daily Hire: Carries a reduced weight of 0.25.
- Why? Because leading a department requires different logistical and artistic responsibilities than assisting.
- Nomination Status: Applies a 1.5x multiplier.
- Winner Status: Applies a 2.0x multiplier, instantly elevating you to “Industry Elite” status.
2.2 Professional Trust ()
This is the “Trust Signal.” These are additive points based on binary verification flags. If you have the credential, you get the points. If you don't, you don't.
- Status “Clear”: Adds +50 Points.
- Status “Delinquent” or “Revoked”: Awards 0 Points and removes “Verified” badges to protect consumers.
2.3 Digital Influence ()
In the age of social media, “Reach” is a form of currency. However, the GAI prioritizes Engagement Quality over Vanity Metrics.
For Educators (YouTube):
We want to reward artists who teach, not just those who are famous.
We calculate Views Per Video () rather than just total subscriber count. A high ratio here indicates you are producing “evergreen” educational content that the community values over time.
For Viral Trends (TikTok):
We utilize the TikTok Research API to query for specific hashtags (e.g., #sfxmakeup, #bridaltrends). We look for videos exceeding 1,000,000 views. This allows us to identify “Breakout Artists”—unknowns who are suddenly dominating the conversation—even if they don't have millions of followers yet.
Article III: Ranking Schools & Education
A school's ranking should be defined by the success of its students, not its marketing budget. The GAI treats schools as “Parent Nodes” in a network of “Student Nodes.”
The School Authority Score () is computed as:
Where is the Global Artistry Index of each tracked alumnus, is the total number of graduates, is the count of verified alumni on the platform, is the alumni weighting coefficient, and is the accreditation bonus.
- High average GAI + many verified alumni: Exponential ranking boost.
- High average GAI + few verified alumni: Moderate boost, pending more data.
- Accredited (CIDESCO, ITEC, etc.): Adds a fixed bonus to .
- If you list a verified school on your profile, you gain a “CIDESCO Educated” badge.
- Simultaneously, the school gains “Alumni Authority” points for having you as a verified graduate.
Article IV: Ranking Brands, Salons & Retailers
For commercial entities, “Popularity” is a measure of Consumer Sentiment. We do not rely on star ratings alone, which can be easily manipulated.
- The Reputation Alert: A sudden, high-velocity spike in negative reviews triggers an automatic alert in our system. This temporarily suppresses the entity's rank until the trend stabilizes, protecting users from booking services that are currently failing expectations.
Article V: Data Governance & Your Rights
You are the owner of your data. The GAI is built on a “Claim & Control” architecture.
5.1 The Master Identity (Golden Record)
The makeup industry is fragmented. You might be “Jane Doe” on IMDb, “@JaneD_Makeup” on Instagram, and “License #99281” in the state database.
PRO Makeup creates a Master Identity (a unique UUID) that links these fragmented digital selves into a single, cohesive record.
5.2 Your Right to Correct
Because we rely on automated scrapers and APIs, we might miss something. Your privacy settings on Instagram might be too tight, or your name might be spelled differently on a call sheet.
The GAI is designed to be fair, but it relies on you to provide the complete picture. The more data you provide, the more accurate—and likely higher—your ranking becomes.
